Our Team

Dr. Grant T. Chyz Dr. Chyz earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1983 from the University of Michigan. Dr Chyz maintains a busy general practice, with an emphasis on esthetic and restorative dentistry, in downtown Seattle. Dr. Chyz believes in giving each patient the opportunity to choose the best treatment (regardless of insurance) and in possessing or developing the clinical skills necessary to deliver on this promise. Dr. Chyz has been a restorative advisor to two Seattle Study Club groups. He teaches an advanced composite technique course and lectures about restorative dentistry and treatment planning in the digital age. He is an alumni of the Council for Innovative Dentistry - an advisory group to 3M ESPE. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association and the Seattle-King County Dental Society. He is also one of the founding members of Total Oral and Dental Studies, a local study club dedicated to excellence in dentistry. Outside of the office, Grant is involved in various activities with his wife and two children.

Dental Hygienists

Jan Jan brings 30 years of dental experience to our office, the last 24 years as a dental hygienist. Jan has been working with Dr. Chyz since 1989. Jan's focus is on the treatment and prevention of periodontal (gum) disease. Currently she is using the Perioscope to offer more effective non-surgical therapy for isolated deep periodontal infections. Jan is constantly attending continuing education courses and thrives on new and better ways to help our patients. Although Jan is a native of California, she has made the northwest her home.

Becky Becky joined our staff in November of 2003 bringing with her 26 years of experience as a practicing dental hygienist. She received a BA in Art Education in 1972 and a BS in Dental Hygiene in 1976 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In 1994 she earned a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Mercer University in Atlanta. She and her husband Mike reside on Bainbridge Island with their adopted one-eared cat named Vincent. She has two grown daughters that live in Portland.

Dental Assistants

Vicki Vicki is originally from Seattle but grew up in Spokane where she attended Kinman University for her dental assisting training and certification. She has over 20 years of experience in the dental field and has been with Dr. Chyz since the fall of 2002. Vicki enjoys the challenges and opportunities she encounters while regularly attending advanced dental training courses. Vicki currently resides in North Seattle with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending her free time at the ocean and actively participating in her children's education.

Selena "Dentistry is my passion and providing excellent care to the patient is my goal". Selena has over 20 years of experience in the field of Dentistry. Selena attended Seattle Central Community College for Dental Assistant Certification and Bellevue Community College. Selena has broad experience in restorative and esthetic dentistry. She has enhanced her learning and understanding of dentistry over the years by attending advanced restorative classes that are commonly attended only by dentists. Her understanding of dental procedures makes her especially good at helping her patients understand treatment recommendations. Selena is married with three children. She has lived in the Snoqualmie Valley her whole life.

Mindy Mindy has been working with Dr. Chyz since December of 2004. Her position as a Clinical Assistant covers a broad area of responsibilities. She is responsible for sterilization, x-ray processing and OSHA/WISHA compliance. When Mindy isn't in the office she is usually off traveling and motocrossing with her husband and two sons.

Business Staff

Sheryl Practice Administration and Patient Care Facilitator. Sheryl, has been in the dental field for over twenty five years. She has been with Dr. Chyz since 1986. Sheryl is familiar with all aspects of the front office and has even helped out with some assisting in the past. Currently Sheryl works to help patients understand various treatment choices and the costs involved. She also manages accounts payable and receivable and processes insurance. Her attention to detail with insurance issues, financial matters, or patient care, has been a great help to our patients.

Suzan Treatment Coordinator Suzan joined our office in December of 2003. One thing that everyone notices about Suzan is her pleasant nature. She has over 12 years of dental front office experience. Suzan graduated from Seattle University with a double major in Accounting and Finance in 1986 and passed the CPA exam in 1990. Her son, Brendon, is a happy and healthy sports enthusiast. Suzan is excited to be able to add her administrative and accounting skills to our existing team with the goal of providing caring, professional, exceptional dentistry.
